Editor’s Assistant, New Church Life 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
To assist the Editor in publishing the monthly General Church magazine, New Church Life. To work with the Editor, printers and General Church Secretary to ensure timely publication. Approximately 15-25 hours a month.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Formatting
• Create the format and master pages for New Church Life in the editing software, Adobe InDesign
• Format word documents into Adobe InDesign
• Send draft issue to Editor for correcting (print PDF versions and inform Editor they are ready)
• Correct edits and send the issue to publishers, FENCOR 
       • Email FENCOR representative, informing FENCOR that the issue has been sent

Print letters and stuffing envelopes for monthly renewals
• 1st and 2nd subscription invoice reminders
• Gift cards for recipients of subscriptions given as a gift
• Letters to those who get a free year subscription for becoming a GC member                                     
Other duties for maintaining subscriptions
• Working with worldwide representatives who collect payment for NCL and send in annually. International subscribers do not get a renewal letter. The agent receives a list of them and sends out notices from their location
• Mailing extra copies that subscribers never receive
• Dropping unpaid subscribers from the mailing list

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
• Appropriate computer & technological skills, including extensive experience in Adobe InDesign
• Appropriate written and verbal communication skills

Academy Seconday Schools

Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coaching Position

Responsibilities: The Assistant Women’s Volleyball position at Bryn Athyn College will support the Head Coach in leadership, management, and strategic planning for the growth and development of the Women’s Volleyball program in conjunction with the Mission Statement and stated Core Purposes of the institution. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively deal with students, faculty and staff. Duties will include some recruiting, practice and game management, in season player development programs, enhancing the academic success of student/athletes, and the management of player data and statistics.

Qualifications: A minimum of three to five years of successful coaching experience and a commitment to New Church education.

Assistant Coach’s Duties Will Include:
1. Report directly to the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach.
2. Support the mission, philosophy and core purposes of Bryn Athyn College (BAC) and the Athletic Department both professionally and personally.
3. Meet with the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at regular intervals.
4. Assist the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach in implementing a recruiting plan and actively recruit student/athletes to the BAC who are committed to Women’s Volleyball and fit the mission of the institution. This will be done in concert with the Admissions Department.
5. Support the Head Coach in enforcement of the team rules and appropriate disciplinary action.
6. Support the Head Coach in maintaining equipment, and related items to the Women’s Volleyball program.
7. The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach is to attend all practices, team contests and events during the season.
8. Obtain and maintain school transportation certification and assist the Head Coach in transporting student/athletes to and from all contests.
9. Support in-season athletic practices and practice schedules, teaching fundamental and advanced skills specific to a successful Women’s Volleyball program.
10. Assist and attend Bryn Athyn College preseason Women’s Volleyball camp run during the week before orientation and classes begin.
11. Assist the Head Coach in providing all information, game scores, statistics and player profiles to all of the required media outlets including a BAC SID or web master.
12. Actively participate in a plan to enhance public relations for the Women’s Volleyball program.
13. Support the academic success of all student/athletes in the Women’s Volleyball program.
14. Attend professional development annually to remain current in the sport area.
15. Perform all other duties related to Women’s Volleyball as assigned.

This position reports to the Executive Director of the New Church and has dotted line responsibilities to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)..

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Support the Executive Director in representing the business operations of the Church to all constituent groups. Organize meetings and conferences that will facilitate healthy working relationships.
Gain general understanding of the financial operations and dynamics of the church central offices and congregations.
• Provide a means of healthy working relationships, with 360 degree communications, between central offices and regional pastors and pastors of congregations.
• Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors, Committee meetings, Board summaries and other related communications.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Schedule meetings and appointments and confirm that Executive Director and CFO have necessary back-up for such meetings, if needed.
• Write letters in response to questions and problems raised, which may include researching and composing replies, write thank you letters and acknowledgements for contributions received from individuals, foundations and societies.
• Help with contact between the Executive Director’s/CFO’s office and congregational treasurers, faculty, board and corporation members, and contributors.
• Help the Executive Director and CFO prepare reports for General Church board meetings, generally involving graphics and other overheads.
• Arrange committee meetings; note taking for meetings, finding convenient date and notifying participants.
• Maintain files for CFO and Executive Director’s and CFO’s office, except for employee and contributor files.
• Arrange and prepare for Treasurers’ meetings in Bryn Athyn and give assistance to host congregation in the Spring.
• Arrange for refreshments for meetings when necessary.
• Be available to give any other assistance the Executive Director and CFO might request.

GNC Schools Teacher Job Description-Academic Year 2010-2011

Position Summary: flexible multi-classroom teaching assignment spanning primary education grades from Pre-K through Fourth Grade. The position requires intimate knowledge of New Church teaching principles and pedagogy. Bachelor’s degree in elementary education required, master’s degree preferred. Event Registration Coordinator

Job Type: Part-time, Temporary with the potential to become permanent

Job Description: The Event Registration Coordinator will set up and manage the registration process for the 2011 General Church Assembly. The position requires a high level of organization and customer service, as well as a comfort and familiarity with various computer programs.

Specific responsibilities:
- Learn how to use the Events and Volunteer modules in the General Church database management system, Raiser’s Edge.
- Collaborate with the Director of Technology, Software Implementation Consultant, Constituent Information Manager, and Assembly Planning Committee to set up the registration process, including online registration capability.
- Organize and manage all aspects of incoming registrations – by mail, telephone, online, and in person – including the workshop election, lodging, and dietary needs of individuals and entire families.
- Collect payments and issue receipts.
- Work with the Event Team to ensure that the registration process fits seamlessly with the rest of the event.
- Record and track the event volunteers’ skills and hours.
- Serve as the contact for anyone with registration questions.
- Oversee registration on the weekend of the event.
- Collect late payments and resolve any registration-related issues post-event.

Candidate Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and a friendly, patient demeanor
- Excellent communication skills; customer service experience is preferred
- Must be task-oriented and reliable

This position will begin slowly (3-5 hours per week) and pick up speed as the event approaches, possibly even to full-time equivalent hours in the Spring. In the week leading up to the event and during the event itself, the Coordinator can expect to work evenings and all weekend.

Possibility of a Full-time Position: The GC/ANC Development Office is considering the hire of a permanent part-time Event Registration and Volunteer Coordinator. The performance of the Coordinator for the Assembly will be assessed and they may be asked to stay on. The job description for that position would be similar to the Assembly Registration Coordinator, but is subject to further consideration and review.

The writer/editor works collaboratively with members of the in-house admissions, marketing and development teams to complete communication projects in a timely and professional manner.

Job Duties & Responsibilities  
Seeking candidate with strong writing skills and experience in writing for a student audience. Must be able to craft copy into creative, informative, accurate articles, be deadline-driven, be able to prioritize multiple writing assignments, and be flexible in a fast-paced publishing environment. Payroll Clerk

 

The Payroll Clerk position is a full-time position reporting to the Assistant Controller of both the General Church of the New Jerusalem and the Academy of the New Church. The Payroll Clerk is responsible for managing and coordinating the payroll process including issuing accurate and timely paychecks, providing payroll-related reports, providing employee support, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining accurate payroll and HR records including earnings and benefits, pay rate changes, cost center allocations, deductions, 403(b) plan allocations, nontaxable distributions, and garnishments and coordinating this data with payroll partners (ADP).
• Maintaining electronic payroll files for employees including correct taxation.
• Enter Time-Sheet data and liaise with supervisors for proactive problem resolution.
• Process semi-monthly transfer of payroll data to ADP.
• Pull internal management reports from ADP software and create custom reports as needed.
• Answer employee questions about their pay.
• Other payroll, HR, and Accounting duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Qualification/requirement:
• Familiarity with ADP software preferred (Pay eXpert, HR eXpert, ezLM)
• Proficiency in Word and Excel required, Access beneficial
