July 2008 Update:
We have added an update to employees on the 2008 Employee Engagement Survey results. This can be found on the Survey Report link to the left.
Employee RelationsThe Employee Relations project is focused on gaining a better understanding of employee needs, gathering input from employees on all aspects of their work, and identifying specific actions that should be taken to create a more collaborative and productive employee-employer relationship.
A major component of this project will be the annual administration of Employee Opinion Surveys going forward. Beginning in 2006, all employees will be asked to complete a completely confidential survey managed by a third party vendor. This is an opportunity for employees to express their opinions about all aspects of their work.
Each survey will then be followed by a series of focus group meetings, which will address identified trends and key employee concerns. All employees will have an opportunity to participate in these focus groups.
2006 Employee Opinion Survey
Our initial Employee Opinion Survey was conducted in October 2006, and we received great participation!
- 79% of General Church employees participated in the survey
- 86% of Academy of the New Church employees participated in the survey
After the survey was administered, we conducted a number of employee focus groups to further clarify the results and help us create specific action plans.
Action Items from the 2006 Employee Opinion Survey
In Spring 2007, we documented specific action items around the following key drivers of employee engagement identified in the 2006 survey:
- Fair Evaluation
- Job Empowerment, Career Development
- Job Opportunities, Job Resources
- Fair Compensation
- Senior Leadership
- People Management
These action items have been communicated to senior leadership, and specific recommendations have been implemented, and will continue to be implemented, to address these essential areas. Look for future communications related to these action items over the coming months.
2007-2008 Employee Opinion "Pulse" Survey
In March 2008, we conducted a follow-up survey to assess the progress we've made in employee engagement since the October 2006 survey. This was a shortened survey, or "pulse" survey, intended to identify areas where we have made progress and areas where we need to continue to improve.
All responses were sent directly to our third-party vendor, PeopleMetrics, and will not be seen by anyone in the General Church or Academy. A report on the results of the survey will be distributed in May.
Thank you for your participantion in this important survey!
