Competency Modeling
Competencies are the learned (skills and knowledge) and inherent (values, motivation, etc.) traits that a person brings to his/her work. Our goal with the competency modeling project is to establish a core set of competencies that can be used to help us assess and manage performance, and monitor our talents as individuals and as an organization.
Establishing a standard competency model in any organization can bring a number of benefits and uses, including:
- Individual Development
- Organizational Talent Assessment
- Organizational Performance Assessment
- Role Clarification
- Individual Performance Planning and Review
- Recruitment
- Training
- Market Comparisons
An assessment of the current competency approach in the General Church and Academy will begin in Fall 2008.
