Performance Management

In order to continue to develop and grow, we need to be able to track and monitor our performance against expectations, both individually and as an organization. The Performance Management project will evaluate how well we capture expectations of our customers (both internal and external customers) and how well we monitor our performance against those expectations.

To achieve the lofty goals set forth in our Strategic Plans, we need to be able to identify our strengths and leverage those strengths for the betterment of the organization, and we need to identify areas where we we are not as strong and work to improve in those areas. Our goal with this project is to establish standard performance management systems and processes that will help us to do just that.

In some cases, we will be able to make use of systems and processes already in place, such as the Career Management System (CMS) used by Academy staff, and focus on evaluating and improving those processes. In other cases, we may need to develop new, or expand existing, performance management systems and processes. The specific approach for each organization will be determined based on an in-depth assessment.

Some work in performance management was completed in the Spring of 2006 for leadership roles in the Academy. These processes will be leveraged in 2007-2008, and be reevaluated in Fall 2008.
